Merp’s Mission
Merp’s Mission is a 2D platformer I created in Unity in which Merp must find the cure to a disease that threatens his home planet, Mearth.
Through doing this project I learned a lot about how to apply my knowledge of C# in Unity to an overarching game. I was also able to utilize my skills in the Adobe Creative Suite to produce custom 2D assets.

The Process…
My process with this project consisted of completing a cycle of brainstorming, prototyping, and iterating multiple times until the result was satisfactory to the goals of the project.
I used Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to create custom 2D assets, such as tile sheets, items, the player, and player consumables.
Within Unity, I used tile sheets to build basic layouts of levels in a modular way, which allowed for quick iteration.
The 2D assets used in the prototype of Merp’s Mission, created in both Photoshop and Illustrator.
Before Iteration:
After Iteration:
Through the process of iteration I was able to refine the look and overall feel of the game. I made sure to not be afraid of ideating multiple times on one aspect of the game to further weed out elements that did not work for the goal I was trying to achieve.
This iteration was made easier by the fact that I would wright down specific tasks I needed to complete in order to bring the vision of my game to life. Writing down of ideas became my go-to method of problem solving after making Merp’s Mission.
